Announcing The Folklore’s Exclusive Digital Buyer’s Preview for Lagos Fashion Week

The month of October is almost upon us and with it comes the anticipation of the buzziest events on the African fashion calendar: Lagos Fashion Week. After celebrating its 10th anniversary last year, Lagos Fashion Week returns from October 26 to 29, promising innovative looks from Nigerian designers such as Orange Culture, Sisiano and Andrea Iyamah.

Over the years, Lagos fashion Week has cemented its reputation as the foremost stage to discover emerging design talent in Africa, with many international publications such as Vogue and WWD looking to the runways in Lagos as a representation of what the African fashion industry has to offer.

While traveling around the world from show to show to see new collections in person is a prerequisite for the fashion calendar, not everyone will be able to make the trip to Lagos for fashion week in October. With this in mind, The Folklore is hosting a virtual buyer preview ahead of Lagos Fashion Week, the Digital Buyer’s Preview, giving access to retailers and buyers to reserve or place wholesale orders in advance from brands showing their collections.

For four days from October 11 to 14, ready-to-wear brands including Abiola Olusola, Gozel Green, Cute-Saint, Onalaja, Orange Culture and more will offer an exclusive preview of their new collections on The Folklore Connect.

From there, a select number of invited retailers and buyers will have the opportunity to get a first look at the designers’ SS23 assortments in their virtual showrooms on The Folklore Connect. Buyers will be able to meet the brand via a virtual appointment and make reservations in advance of the market season.

This initiative is rooted in The Folklore’s mission to empower designer brands from Africa and the diaspora by using modern software and technology to connect them to global partners.
