Inside The Folklore’s Los Angeles Pop-Up, A Celebration of Global Fashion, Culture, and Connection
The Folklore Shop, in collaboration with Pop Up Home and UNREPD, recently wrapped up an exciting two-week pop-up event in Los Angeles from October 17th to 30th. The event brought together some of the most inspiring brands from The Folklore’s roster, including Eloli, K-Apostrophe, Mixed Up Clothing, and Unparalleled Beauty. With a mission to showcase sustainable, diverse, and innovative brands from across the globe, the event celebrated fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands dedicated to quality and cultural storytelling.
Throughout the two-week period, the event series facilitated a unique blend of shopping experiences, interactive sessions, and enlightening panels that drew crowds from around Los Angeles. Kicking off the lineup of events on October 18, both Zena Ziora’s Chiso Osuji and Eclectic Chique’s Teni Majekodunmi hosted lively sip-and-shop sessions where attendees enjoyed beverages, light bites, and a chance to engage directly with the designers behind the brands.
The Folklore’s founder and CEO, Amira Rasool, held a styling session where visitors could gather personal styling advice and explore pieces that reflect their style. Rasool’s presence provided a rare opportunity for fans to connect with the visionary behind The Folklore, adding a personal touch to the event.
Then the founders of Black Girls Texting hosted a skincare workshop that blended beauty tips with practical self-care insights. Focused on achieving radiant skin amidst hectic schedules, the session provided valuable advice on creating effective routines.
A panel exploring African influence in music and fashion followed, bringing stylist Amiraa Vee and publicist Taylor Webster together with industry leaders to discuss the dynamic cultural exchange shaping these fields today. Attendees left with a new appreciation for the fusion of African style and sound.
“Spellbound”, the private film screening hosted by artist and musician Nana Kwabena and Grammy-nominated Jidenna was one of the most exclusive highlights. The night showcased short films, including Kwabena’s debut, To End All Spells, and works by other visionary filmmakers such as Duckwrth, Nuek Hardy, David Maxwell and Baby Rose. Guests mingled, enjoyed live music, and shopped a selection of global, sustainable brands while immersed in a night of film, art, and culture.
Sustainability was a key theme at the pop-up, underscored by a panel on building a sustainable tomorrow featuring Planet FWD and Looks For Lease. Then the “Women in Power” panel brought together impactful voices like Kenya Parham of SPILL and entrepreneur Tahirah A’sha, who shared insights into fashion, entrepreneurship, and the role of style in empowering personal growth.
Each event underscored The Folklore’s commitment to creating spaces that foster community, learning, and inspiration. Beyond being a shopping experience, this Los Angeles pop-up served as a hub where creatives, industry leaders, and conscious consumers could connect, celebrate cultural heritage, and champion innovative, sustainable design.
