This past weekend on Saturday, September 8th and Sunday, September 9th, The Folklore held its first ever pop-up shop in New York City. The Folklore took over 198 Allen Street in the Lower East Side and completely transformed the raw space into a one-of-a-kind shopping destination.
The successful event showcased apparel, accessories, and shoe styles from the site's 19 talented designers including Orange Culture, Andrea Iyamah, Tokyo James, Pichulik, and more. Shoppers also marveled at paintings by emerging New York-based artist, Kiyomi Taylor, that were proudly displayed on the walls.
In the evening The Folklore held a private press/influencer shopping event Saturday evening to celebrate the release of the site. DJ Akili King spun a mix of alternative R&B, Afrobeats, and Hip-Hop, while members of the media and friends of The Folklore enjoyed browsing through the racks.
