EDAS is an innovative, New York-based brand known for its high-concept women’s bags and accessories. What started as an experiment in sustainability, using unusual home-goods and refurbished elements, has become a coveted label that celebrates modern, eclectic women and global cultures.
EDAS is best known for its hand-forged, customizable jewelry, composed of diverse materials including denim and brass. Each creation is inspired by Mim's archival images of people of color and the women that raised her. Most recently, the line extended into bags, introducing compact, smooth leather purses with bold accents to its lineup.
This season, the brand collaborated with a tribe of artisans in León, Guanajuato, Mexico. Initially struck by the architecture and color she experienced during a trip to Tulum with her sisters, Mims left with a strong desire to dive into the local culture. The Edas x Mexico collection offers sculptural, crimson and olive bags; stunning Japanese Seed bead earrings, romantic silk neckwear, a leather apron and more, that celebrate Mexico’s rich indigenous culture and agricultural legacy.
"I want to tell many stories with EDAS. For me, the brand is a means of community building and storytelling," says founder Sade Mims. "I want [EDAS] to be impactful, and honest, and feel like home for people."
We've gotten some really great feedback. We've been told that the pieces make [people] happy and they feel confident when wearing them, so that feels really good to hear. I also think our classic shapes like the Maria or Yshaia bags, bring back memories for our consumers who see these vintage silhouettes with a modern twist and feel a sense of familiarity. -Sade Mims
